Qatar Airways plans to boost the number of passengers traveling to Cyprus to 80,000

Qatar Airways currently offers one flight per day from Doha to Larnaca. In 2022, the airline carried around 70,000 passengers to and from Doha, and it is expected to transport around 80,000 passengers in 2023 to Cyprus through Larnaca Airport.

Qatar Airways’ presence is “very important”, as it connects the island with Asia and the East, while in 2023 it is expected to fly to and from Cypriot airports around 80,000 passengers, said Eleni Kaloyirou, CEO of Hermes Airports.

According to Kaloyirou of Qatar Airways, Cyprus will have access to countries such as Australia, New Zealand, China, India, Africa, and several other countries in the east through Qatar Airways.

Mate Hoffmann, Qatar Airways’ Regional Manager for Southern Europe, said: “Cyprus is an important market for us; we are very much committed to rebuilding our position here in this market.”

Last year, a total of 9.2 million passengers passed through Larnaca and Paphos airports, which is equivalent to 82% of the traffic recorded in 2019.
