To cope with the rising demand for travel from Brazil to Barcelona, LATAM Airlines Brasil is set to increase its flight capacity and will begin using its Boeing 777 fleet on the São Paulo Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) to Barcelona route from March 26.
The airline has announced plans to double its flights from São Paulo to Barcelona El Prat Airport (BCN) to better serve travelers to this popular Spanish destination.
Due to the consistently high load factors nearing 90%, LATAM Brasil has made the decision to increase its capacity on the four weekly flights from Sao Paulo to Barcelona. Starting from March 26, the airline will replace its current Boeing 767 aircraft, which can accommodate only 225 passengers, with its larger Boeing 777 fleet, capable of carrying 410 passengers.
Throughout the year 2022, LATAM airline served a total of 76,000 passengers on the São Paulo Guarulhos to Barcelona route, offering 399 flights in total. This achievement indicates the growing popularity of Barcelona as a preferred destination among travelers and LATAM’s commitment to providing quality service to its passengers.
“The end of the COVID-19 restrictions and the continuous increase of the desire to travel are the reasons for the growth of our flight occupancy to Barcelona. And the ability to meet this demand is a great LATAM strength that reflects our own commitment to Brazil. In 2023, we are more efficient than ever and very attentive to these growths to increasingly connect our country with the world.” – stated Aline Mafra, Director of Sales and Marketing at LATAM Brasil.
According to Aline Mafra, Director of Sales and Marketing at LATAM Brasil, the airline is currently the sole carrier in Brazil to provide non-stop flights to Spain. This highlights LATAM’s commitment to enhancing connectivity and convenience for its passengers.
Starting March 2023, LATAM Brasil will expand its European network by offering 39 weekly flights from São Paulo Guarulhos Airport to seven major European destinations, providing greater connectivity for travelers. The airline currently operates non-stop flights to Barcelona, Rome Fiumicino (FCO), Frankfurt (FRA), London Heathrow (LHR), Lisbon (LIS), Madrid Barajas (MAD), and Milan Malpensa (MXP), with all flights departing from São Paulo Guarulhos.
