According to reports, Greece is expected to operate at 114% of its 2019 seating capacity during the first week of July 2023.
This recovery is largely driven by the demand for leisure travel on short and medium-haul routes in Greece and has seen a significant increase in low-cost airline capacity, with Ryanair and easyJet ranking second and third in terms of seats respectively.
Additionally, Jet2.com, Wizz Air, Eurowings and Volotea all feature in the top 10.
Aegean Airlines Group is still the largest operator in Greece, but has not kept pace with the market’s recovery, and is expected to have a slightly lower seat share in summer 2023 compared to 2019.
