Barcelona airport saw a surge in passengers in April 2024, reaching over 4.6 million, up 9.5% from the previous year. This streak extends its record for the sixth consecutive month, following March’s 4.2 million passengers.
Out of these, 4,600,973 were on commercial flights – 3,411,915 on international routes, a notable 11.8% increase from 2023, and 1,181,226 on domestic flights, up 3.3%. Compared to pre-pandemic levels in March 2019, there’s a 1.7% rise in passenger numbers.

Barcelona airport also saw increased activity with 29,812 take-offs and landings in March, up 10.8% from 2023 and slightly higher than 2019.
Overall for the year, including January and April 2024, Barcelona’s passenger count reached 16,041,099, a 13.2% increase from 2023 and 6.7% from 2019.
Cargo movements also surged, with 14,864 tonnes in April alone, a 20.6% increase year-over-year. In total for 2024, 58,557 tonnes have been transported, marking a 20.8% rise from last year.
