According to Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias’ recent interview with ERT, direct flights from the United States to Greece are expected to generate over one million travelers and over one billion euros in tourism revenue during the upcoming season. This was reported by ANA.
Delta’s inaugural flight from New York is scheduled for March 11, and to date, 56 flights per week from the USA and Canada to Greece have been announced. More flights are expected to be added as the winter and spring seasons progress.
Officials reported that the outlook for the upcoming tourist season is positive based on the number of pre-bookings, and the performance of 2023 is expected to surpass that of 2022, particularly in the early months.
As per the Greek daily Kathimerini, the following airlines are set to operate scheduled flights to Athens Greece in 2023:
- Delta Air Lines from New York with five flights per week starting March 11 and daily flights from March 25, 2023
- United Airlines from New York with three flights a week from April 6 and daily flights from May 6, 2023.
- American Airlines from New York to Athens with daily flights starting on May 5, 2023.
- American Airlines from Chicago with daily flights from June 1, 2023.
- American Airlines from Philadelphia with daily flights from June 1, 2023.
- Delta Air Lines from Boston with flights every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday as of May 8, 2023.
- Emirates from New York (Newark) with daily flights (regular, all year round).
Furthermore, Delta Airlines is expected to announce direct flights from Washington and Atlanta to Athens, Greece.

In addition, flights from Canada to Greece are planned to start in late March of 2023. Specifically, two weekly flights from Montreal to Athens are slated to commence on March 31 and three weekly flights from Toronto to Athens will commence on March 28.
The minister expressed that based on pre-bookings, the outlook for 2023 is exceptional and is expected to surpass 2022, particularly in the initial months of the year.
