TUS Airways, a Cypriot airline, reported a record-breaking number of passengers in 2022, with a surge of over 1,100% network-wide compared to 2021. The airline also stated that the number of flights it operated on rose by 600% in 2022 compared to the previous year.

The company also mentioned that it expanded its fleet by 150%, adding more Airbus A320 aircraft.

TUS Airways CEO Ahmed Aly mentioned: “Despite the challenges, TUS Airways remained committed and steadfast in developing and supporting the air travel sector, enhancing regional connectivity and being a valuable pillar in opening new routes and markets”.

The airline company recently made a substantial investment of approximately $20 million in physical assets, making it the largest Cypriot airline in terms of fleet size, destinations, and passenger count.

TUS CEO stated: “This was by no means an easy achievement and was only possible through the support of our shareholders, combined with close contacts with our hospitality partners, the Cyprus Ministries of Transport and Tourism, and, of course, the dedication of our fantastic airline team.”

TUS Airline also highlighted several accomplishments, such as flights from Paris to Larnaca and Paphos, as well as up to six daily flights between Larnaca, Paphos, and Tel Aviv.

The latter was a major factor in making Israel the first country to rank as the third-largest source of tourism in Cyprus. The company also plans to diversify into new untapped markets with scheduled and charter flights to Spain, Italy, Slovakia, and Austria, along with offering competitive pricing across its network to attract more travelers.

Furthermore, TUS Airways’ announcement also highlighted investments made in the development of the aviation sector, including record-breaking recruitment, implementation and design of infrastructure projects, cadet programs, and collaborative efforts with Cypriot aviation agencies.

The airline’s announcement concluded: “2023 will mark another important year for TUS Airways, which strengthens and expands our network from Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean, with more flights and more destinations.”
