At the start of this week, specifically on May 1st 2023, budget airline easyJet resumed its seasonal flights from London Southend Airport to Palma de Mallorca Airport. The reintroduction of these flights to Palma signifies the comeback of Southend’s second summer destination for this year, and several others are expected to follow suit by the end of this month.
In honor of the semi-official resumption of flight services from London Southend Airport, the initial 50 travelers who cleared airport security were offered a chance to relish a ‘palm-leaf’ Palma cupcake and take a picture at the dedicated selfie spot, The Snug.
At the same time, the Air Traffic Control tower streamed a live video on Facebook, featuring the departing easyJet flights U2 7262 heading to Palma de Mallorca Airport and U2 7008 heading to Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport. The latter was the budget carrier’s first summer destination to resume its services earlier this year on March 29th.

According to John Upton, CEO of London Southend Airport, an airport that is easily accessible and quick to get to is a necessity for millions of individuals residing in East London and the Eastern part of England. He further mentioned that the airport’s passengers are its biggest supporters, and therefore, the airport is tirelessly striving to acquire more airline partners and destinations. Upton expressed optimism in providing progress updates in the near future.

The Senior Leadership Team of the airport is scheduled to attend Routes Europe in Łódź, Poland from May 9 – 11, where they will engage in discussions with airlines and showcase London Southend Airport’s distinctive features, which make it an “obvious win” for future growth in London and its eastern region.
