Luxair, the national airline of Luxembourg, has chosen to enhance its existing single-aisle fleet by selecting the fuel-efficient Boeing 737-8, as per the announcement made by the airline. Under an agreement with Boeing, Luxair is set to receive four of these aircraft.
To begin with, Luxair will lease two 737-8s, which are expected to be delivered during the summer season. This move will enable the airline to increase its capacity and offer greater connectivity to more destinations during the peak travel period. The airline intends to acquire the remaining two 737-8s through a purchase arrangement.

By replacing its existing airplanes, the 737-8 will enable Luxair to enhance flexibility throughout its network while simultaneously reducing fuel consumption and emissions by up to 20%. On average, each airplane is expected to save up to eight million pounds of CO2 emissions per year compared to the airplanes it is replacing.

The 737-8 is a quieter airplane that helps create a 50% smaller noise footprint than the airplanes it replaces.” said Ricardo Cavero, vice president, Europe & Israel Sales and Marketing, Boeing Commercial Airplanes.
The 737-8, which can accommodate 162 to 210 passengers depending on its configuration and has a range of 3,500 nautical miles, is regarded as the most adaptable single-aisle airplane in the market. It is capable of profitable operation on both short- and medium-haul routes.
Luxair provides a variety of services to its passengers, including both scheduled and charter flights, as well as the option of business or economy class seating, in-flight entertainment, and a loyalty program named Miles & More. Furthermore, the airline is recognized for its strong commitment towards safety and sustainability.
