With this expansion to Ohio’s second-largest city, Aer Lingus expands its influence and now serves a total of 19 transatlantic destinations. This significant milestone represents a threefold increase in the airline’s transatlantic reach within a span of just ten years.
Lynne Embleton, the CEO of Aer Lingus (EI), expressed enthusiasm about the airline’s commitment to expanding Dublin as a hub and its growth strategy with the introduction of the new Cleveland route. Embleton highlighted the significant increase in transatlantic bookings, currently at 20%, which is met by Aer Lingus’ largest-ever transatlantic schedule, offering over 2.25 million seats this summer.
The recent launch of operations on May 19, 2023, at Cleveland-Hopkins International Airport (CLE) capitalizes on Aer Lingus’ latest acquisitions of the Airbus A321LR aircraft. These aircraft are perfectly suited for long-haul flights with relatively lower passenger demand, accommodating just 184 passengers in a two-class configuration.
